Where does the time go??....

I will never get an answer to that question!

I know one thing is for sure

I need some serious time management lessons

especially for all things scrappy and creative!

My family/ personal life seems to be on track 

its the other side that does not get the same amount of attention from me!

As you may or may not know

I run 

(with the help of my design team)

a challenge blog called 

Get Creative

it is my baby and I have watched it grow

for 2 years now

I have  a very talented  creative team

and have had very talented ladies create for me in the past..

It is a busy challenge blog with something happening at least once a week

We have 2 card challenges and 2 layout challenges

 plus an inspirational project every month

So far 2 challenges have gone live for the month of February

here is my layout for the 1st

the challenge is favourite of mine

and a popular one

your challenge is to create a layout with 

snowflakes

(your photo does not have to be about the snow)

the challenge is to be creative with snowflakes!

here is my take on the challenge

I went crazy with coarse modelling paste 

trying to get the same effect as the snow in the photo

here are some close ups

The snow flakes were cut with the cameo and sprinkled with glitter

which of course does not show up in the photo

the film strip was also cut with the cameo

I did not want to overload the layout with embellishments as I wanted the texture of the 

"snow"

 modelling paste to be in focus

I use a lot of black on layouts about me

its the colour I wear

what I feel comfortable with 

must be the drama queen in me!

I adore colour

but I have to have black somewhere on me or in my creations!

Happy New Year!...

What a way to start the new year!!

our house is leaking 

it rained so heavily just before New Years eve

that the rain water seeped through the ceiling

rendering 2 rooms of the house useless

I had used every bowl and bucket that I owned

to catch the water!!

and it wasnt dripping it was leaking 

I was on an hourly vigil to empty buckets

I can honestly say I am exhausted! LOL

I held Christmas dinner and New Years Eve dinner so there was endless cooking 

cleaning you name it! LOL

amongst all the celebrations and drama I created a layout for

Get Creative's

January 1st layout challenge

the challenge is to express your feelings of the year that passed 2012

and the year to come 2013

the twist is to make the layout like an art journal page

using your paints mists mediums etc..

(cant get enough of this machine)

and the little flowers and hearts are from 

THE SHOP

I couldnt keep my promise!.....

I know I promised that I would be back soon....

and that I would fill up my ETSY shop with some cuteness

but

a life ended suddenly and we are all reeling from the shock

and the loss is more now that the funeral is over...

I ask myself one question every day

Why was such a young life taken?

I do not get any answers and I probably never will....

thus my disappearance again!

Near on a month's

absence

from this blog!...

yet again I have negelected this little ol blog of mine

once again due to family issues

you cannot say I am not consistent LOL

Anyway here is my 

Bird Is The Word

layout for the 

Breathe

challenge

(thank you Wendy for your patience)

the barabed wire frame and chevron patterns are masks I made with my new little baby

my CAMEO.....up till now I have never owned a die cutting machine

and I had been drooling over Marie Papadopoulos cards which she had made with the Cameo

and when Studio Calico had a offer on the machine I snapped it up

(gift from my mum)

the chevron stirps are also from the cameo

I am in love with this machine it has so many possibilities

So I played with gesso to give some texture

and played with my Dylusions

some close up!

the design create art stamp is from Studio Calico

Breathe was cut with my cameo!!
